Distinctive Features
Geared Head Transmission: Unlike belt-driven drills, this uses a gearbox. Strands is famous for using a combination of steel and reinforced fiber gears. This design provides high torque while remaining significantly quieter than standard all-steel geared heads.
Rotation: The drill head and the table arm can both rotate 360° around the column.
Head Tilt: On the "U" (Universal) or Mill/Drill variants, the head can tilt 0-45°, but the standard S25M usually has a fixed vertical head with a rotating arm.
Build: Known for a very rigid quill return spring and high-precision spindle runout.
